QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Have questions about the team sports pictures? If its not, here---please just message me. I'm happy to help!
COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS APPLY TO ALL STUDENTS, ATHLETES, PARENTS, AND COACHES!
This includes NO screen shots! If you’d like it on social media---just message me if its not on facebook. I don’t mind at all. You can download the logo'd image on your smart phone and use that on your social media accounts. No filters, editing, or cropping out the logo. I WANT you to use your image, but screen shots make the picture distorted and blurry....and I know you didn't pay for a distorted picture. Thank you!

FOR A REALLY CONSISTENT, SUCCESSFUL PORTRAIT SESSION here's some suggestions:
Besides winter sports, all sports should be assumed to be outside....although I’m all for being outside in winter, too. That’s up to you.
What to Wear
Coaches, assistants, and managers
Must wear school colors—preferably the color of the uniform the athletes are wearing. Hats can be worn as long as they are school colors or supporting your team. Besides cross country and track, we will need sports balls for the rest. Please consider the pants you’re wearing and the shoes. Moccasin's don’t usually look very sporty---and they stand out.
Guys can wear just jeans or their full uniform.
Some teams wear the uniform tops, others wear full uniform. It has to be one or the other and its your decision. If you’d like me to help you decide, just shoot me a message on facebook to help you come up with something.
•JEANS: They are OUT OF STYLE. NO jeans for sports pictures.
•Bring ALL items/gear you use in your sport. Gloves, hats, helmets, shoes, catchers gear, warm ups, protection gear, etc...
•NO head bands or ALL wear head bands. They need to be the same color and size.
•Hair up or down? If there's 12 girls and only 1 girl has their hair up, she will stand out. So, I do suggest either all up or half and half. If its windy, I highly suggest a messy bun or a pony tail. We do not wait for wind and do not position you according to wind direction. We position you according to back drop.
•Take hair bands off your wrist.
I highly recommend all girls wear foundation, mascara, and a gloss (not chapstick) for their photo session, even if they don’t normally wear it. It doesn’t have to be a lot. It evens your skin tone and makes your eyes pop, and keeps your lips from blending into your skin tone. Your foundation color should match the color of your neck, not your face. You should not have an orange face and white neck. If you have blemishes, its much easier to remove or soften them than if you wear nothing.
•Unless they are done professionally, I suggest to just remove the nail polish.
•No neons or bright colors
•No week-old nail polish of it partially coming off. If you’re going barefoot---it doesn’t matter, we don’t see toes.
To the Coaches:
Some dislike this part of the season, some love it. While I do understand why some coaches want me to hurry up and get the portrait session over with---please know--I do go as fast as I can. I have to put out quality work for my clients and their paying parents. I do NOT take advantage of this opportunity. I want parents to know I am well aware and truly care about their hard working dollars they are spending on their children’s pictures. That’s why I’m doing my very best to keep prices as low as I can. All I ask is you allow me to take the time I need to do quality work and not tell me what time I need to get done because I can only go so fast.
When do we take the team portraits?
The newspaper and yearbook have deadlines. We want the team portraits scheduled for the 2nd week of practice at the latest from now on. Coaches should know Varsity players by this time. If there is question about this, then just include the athlete in both pictures. I do look at each schedule and avoid scheduling it the day before or after a game unless its requested.
How long will this session take of my practice time?
Depends on the athletes and how many there are. It takes me 45-60 seconds with most athletes individual portraits, with the exceptions of the goofy ones and who are very particular. Girls usually go really fast for the team portion—maybe 5-10 minutes. In most cases, I can be done in 30 minutes. I am VERY flexible about your time. If you'd like to do the session after practice and it works for the athletes, that's fine with me.
ALL Varsity teams have the option to go to another location. In front of an old building, in an old building, in or by the water, on a bridge, etc....We can discuss this when I send your session date.
We are getting new uniforms this year.
That’s great! If uniforms are not delivered by the portrait date, at least we are lucky enough to still have decent uniforms to photograph in. We have had upset parents getting portraits done at the end of a season because we waited for uniforms to arrive. Sorry, they are paying for these images to enjoy during the season and I must make deadlines.
How do I get the order forms for my athletes?
If the forms are not handed directly to a coach, they are normally put in the coaches mailbox in the high school.
How do I get those posters with the team and calendar?
A form must be filled out the day of the session. I usually process, edit, and order pictures within 24 hours, which is later than receiving the forgotten payment. I don’t process any picture without the order form and do not go back to process a late payment. I understand teens and your busy lives and forgetting things is pretty common.
What’s Included in the price?
I always do my best to keep prices low and affordable. I’m aware that some of you are paying for 2 or 3 athletes in 3 sports each year and want you to get your money’s worth.
Form of Payment
You can pay cash or check. If you’d like to pay by credit card, please message me what you’d like to order and I will send you a link with the invoice to pay online via credit card. This must be done BEFORE the session.
When do you cash my check?
I never cash it before the portraits are ordered and sent back to me. I usually cash it 7-10 days later. If we would ever do a last minute session because we found a break in the weather, please know I will not cash checks for 7-14 days. If there’s a concern, please put a note in the envelope. I do understand.
What happens if I forgot my order form and money?
You will still need to print out a form and bring it to the session or fill out one of my forms. You can run home to get the payment and drop it off at my home address later that evening or you can give it to my daughter, Haley Staudinger the next day. I can’t find my form.
There’s a link at the end of this to print out the form, you can get one from the library, or you can get one from me the day of the session. Just don’t forget your payment or make arrangements to get the payment to me.
What is a memory mate?
A memory mate is an 8x10 or 10x8 depending on how the team is posed and how many are in the image. Most of the time there is an individual picture in smaller size with the details of the school, sport, and his or her name. Sometimes though its all the players head shots. It’s never the same. Every memory mate is custom to each team and is graphically designed around each sport. NO template is used twice and NO template is used for a different school. You will not find a template on the internet. I even purchase new fonts. I LOVE giving the players something for their own and don’t want them to worry about the same thing from last year.
Who gets individual pictures taken?
Anyone who has ordered any item—including the memory mate. 90% of the time, the individual portrait is included on the memory mate.
I do NOT take individual pictures if you don’t have an order form. If mom tells you to have the photographer just take your picture and she will order at a later date on the website....sorry, it doesn’t work that way. There will not be any individual picture displayed on the website or the memory mate if an order form is not filled out the day of the session. Any questions about this, please let me know. You can always order extras and other products later from the website though.
Who doesn’t get an individual picture taken?
Anyone with no order form. Please just talk to me or message me if money is an issue. I do understand.
Why do you charge more for a ‘friend’ picture?
There’s a few reasons I do this. For one, more time—more money. The the main reasons though are because of the time I’m allowed with the athletes. If I just allow any friend picture at no cost, it simply takes up way more time and the coaches get frustrated. Also, I WANT those friend pictures, but when mom and dad order packages of their children—I want them to have their money’s worth.
I want to take a picture with 3 of my best friends?
Great! Since one of your friends is already included in the friend price, you pay $2 for each additional person. The total would be $10 for a friend picture.
So the additional friend for $2 is not another picture, just a friend, right?
If I want a picture with my best friend Jane, another with my friend Sam, I’d pay for 2 friend pictures—each $6, totaling $12, right?
Correct. Each picture is $6.
I’m on Varsity and we never get to go to those cool spots like the other teams. Why not?
Your coach isn’t able to set aside that time to allow for this. It really doesn’t take more time though besides traveling to the location in Chilton. While I understand the coach, I also understand that you will look at these images when you’re old and gray. I do inform the coach of this, but in case the message hasn’t been relayed, your team can contact me to set up a time to do a session after practice. All the athletes must be a part of it. The coach does not.
Viewing Your Pictures
Pictures will be delivered to practice. Individual portraits and team images can be viewed in the events gallery from the home page.
Why is my kid not smiling and other kids are OR Why does my kid have a silly pose in the memory mate?
Sometimes its just a gut feeling that its just their personality and I need to chill and go with the flow---there’s nothing wrong that. If I caught it on camera—lucky me....and you. That’s something that he/she will look back on in even 50 years and smile at. The odds are that he or she wasn’t being disrespectful, but was in a great, silly mood and wanted to be a little different. I don’t just take the posed pictures. If time allows, I will always take extras of the athletes having fun. As for the ones who are difficult to smile---I ALWAYS try to get the athletes to give me a smile and some just refuse. If that’s the case---it’s usually something you need to discuss with your child for future sessions. I can only do so much on my end. Believe me though, I’m usually trying to get the group to do something to make him crack a smile.
Why do I see more fun pictures in one sports gallery than my sports gallery?
With no intent to be disrespectful, the main reason is usually the coach. Typically I do ask the coach to give me 5 minutes extra to get some fun shots with friends and class groups (ex: all the seniors, all the high jumpers, etc...) If you don’t see extra pictures—it’s because the coach could allow any extra time. TIP: when I arrive, I know some don’t want to go first and go next for their individuals, but if we go faster, we get done faster and this allows for more time at the end.
You took a couple pictures of me and I think you chose my least favorite picture. Can you exchange it for my favorite?
It does happen where I may like one picture more than the other, but sometimes its clarity or lighting as another reason. Sometimes the flash didn’t sync, sometimes the focus was not as sharp. Tip: Please consider when you're posing how you like your smile, profile, chin, etc... to look in your images. You know what you like and don't like. I always pose you to get you at the right angle, but that doesn't mean I know your best smile. Don't worry about what others are thinking because they have to do the same thing you are. Be confident for 10 seconds of me taking the picture--you are modeling for your portrait. Just be YOU. :)
